काशीपुर । काशीपुर डेवलपमेंट फोरम के बैनर तले आज यहां रोटरी भवन में शहर के तमाम सामाजिक संगठनों ने एक स्वर में एम्स की स्थापना के लिए एक विशाल बैठक का आयोजन किया। बैठक में सभी ने काशीपुर में एम्स की शाखा की स्थापना न होने पर संघर्ष के लिए रणनीति बनाने की तैयारी की। केडीएफ अध्यक्ष राजीव घई ने उपस्थित सभी सामाजिक संगठनों के अलावा वहाँ मौजूद मीडिया कर्मियों से भी इस मांग के लिये भरपूर समर्थन की अपील की। हालांकि केंद्र सरकार द्वारा ऊधमसिंह नगर के किच्छा में एम्स का सेटेलाइट केन्द्र खोले जाने की कर दी गई है। बैठक में उपस्थित सामाजिक संगठनों के प्रतिनिधियों ने इस बात पर आक्रोश भी जताया कि एम्स का केंद्र खोलने की सबसे पहले काशीपुर से मांग उठी थी लेकिन काशीपुर से सौतेला व्यवहार करते हुए किच्छा में खोला जा रहा है। वक्ताओं ने पिछले कुछ सालों में काशीपुर की राजनीतिक रूप से उपेक्षा किये जाने का आरोप लगाया। वक्ताओं ने कहा कि एक समय था जब काशीपुर को उद्योग के क्षेत्र में उत्तर प्रदेश में रहने के दौरान सबसे विकसित औद्योगिक क्षेत्र का दर्जा था। लेकिन अब यह नगर उपेक्षित बना दिया गया है।
