क्षेत्रीय अधिकारी विकास मिश्र ने सिंगल यूज प्लास्टिक के उन्मूलन हेतु मुख्य सचिव की अध्यक्षता में गठित स्पेशल टास्कफोर्स की प्रथम बैठक तथा भारत सरकार की अधिसूचना के अनुपालन में अवगत कराया है कि पर्यावरण वन एवं जलवायु परिवर्तन मंत्रालय भारत सरकार की अधिसूचना के द्वारा अधिसूचित अपशिष्ट प्लास्टिक संशोधन नियम 2021 के द्वारा सिंगल यूज प्लास्टिक आईट्म्स को चरणवद्ध रुप से प्रतिबंधित किया गया है। उन्होंने बताया कि उक्त अधिसूचना द्वारा प्रतिबंधित सिंगल यूज प्लास्टिक आईटम््स में से प्लास्टि कैरी बैग एवं प्लास्टिक तथा थर्माकोल से निर्मित एक बार उपयोग के पश्चात् निस्तारण योग्य कपों, गिलासों, प्लेटों, चम्मचों, टंबलरों को उत्तर प्रदेश शासन की अधिसूचना द्वारा पूर्व से ही प्रतिबंधित किया जा चुका है। उन्होंने जारी किए गये निर्देशों के क्रम में अधिसूचित अपशिष्ट प्लास्टिक संशोधन नियम 2021 के अन्र्तगत सिंगल यूज प्लास्टिक पर अधिरोपित बैन का अनुपालन सुनिश्चित कराने के निर्देश संबंधितों को दिए हैं।
