देहरादून। मुख्यमंत्री पुष्कर सिंह धामी ने गढ़ी कैंट स्थित शहीद दुर्गा मल्ल पार्क में आजाद हिंद फौज के शहीद मेजर दुर्गा मल्ल की प्रतिमा एवं चित्र पर पुष्पांजलि अर्पित कर उन्हें श्रद्धांजलि दी। इस अवसर पर मुख्यमंत्री ने विभिन्न क्षेत्रों में सराहनीय कार्य करने वाले गोरखा समुदाय के लोगों को सम्मानित भी किया। मुख्यमंत्री ने कहा कि अल्प आयु में ही मेजर दुर्गा मल्ल ने देश की रक्षा के लिए अपने सभी सुख, सुविधाओं को त्याग कर अंग्रेजों के विरुद्ध लड़ने का जो दृढ़ साहस दिखाया था, उसे हमेशा याद किया जाएगा। उन्होंने विपरीत परिस्थितियों में भी राष्ट्र प्रथम की भावना से प्रेरित होकर अपना सर्वस्व देश को अर्पण कर दिया। 1931 में दुर्गा मल्ल जी गोरखा राइफल्स में भर्ती हुए और यहीं से उन्होंने द्वितीय विश्व युद्ध में भी हिस्सा लिया। 1942 में वे नेताजी सुभाष चन्द्र बोस के आह्नान पर आजाद हिन्द फौज में भर्ती हो गये। 27 मार्च 1944 में अंग्रेज सैनिकों द्वारा दुर्गा मल्ल जी को युद्धबंदी बना लिया गया और सैनिक अदालत द्वारा उन्हें फांसी पर चढ़ाने का हुक्म दिया गया। 25 अगस्त 1944 को दिल्ली की तिहाड़ जेल में स्वाधीनता के इस दीवाने ने हंसते हंसते फांसी का फन्दा अपने गले में स्वीकार किया। मुख्यमंत्री ने कहा कि उत्तराखण्ड देवभूमि एवं वीरों की भूमि है, बलिदानियों की भूमि है। यह बात हमारे सैनिकों ने आज तक हुए सभी युद्धों में सिद्ध भी की है। उन्होंने कहा कि प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी के प्रयासों से सेना ना केवल पहले से और अधिक सक्षम और सशक्त हो रही है बल्कि उसकी यश और कीर्ति पताका चारों ओर फहरा रही है। केन्द्र सरकार जहां एक ओर सेना के आधुनिकीकरण पर बल दे रही है, वहीं दूसरी ओर सैनिकों और उनके परिवारों को मिल रही सुख-सुविधाओं का भी ख्याल रख रही हैं। प्रधानमंत्री जी निरंतर सैनिकों के साहस और मनोबल को बढ़ा रहे हैं। राज्य सरकार भी नरेन्द्र मोदी के मार्गदर्शन में सैनिकों एवं उनके परिवार को मिलने वाली सुविधाओं में वृद्धि करने के लिए पूर्ण रूप से प्रतिबद्ध है। सैनिकों या उनके आश्रितों को मिलने वाली अनुदान राशि बढ़ाने से लेकर शहीद सैनिकों के आश्रितों को राज्य सरकार के अधीन आने वाली नौकरियों में वरीयता के आधार पर नियुक्ति देने का निर्णय भी इसी आशय से राज्य सरकार ने लिया है। कैबिनेट मंत्री गणेश जोशी ने शहीद मेजर दुर्गा मल्ल को श्रद्धांजलि देते हुए कहा कि उन्हें आजाद हिन्द फौज में गुप्तचर का कार्य दिया गया था। उन्होंने अपनी जिम्मेदारियों को कर्तव्यनिष्ठा से पूरा किया और देश के लिए अपना सर्वोच्च बलिदान दिया। हम सबको उनके जीवन से प्रेरणा लेनी चाहिए। गणेश जोशी ने कहा कि गुनियालगांव, देहरादून में हमारे शहीद सैनिकों की स्मृति में भव्य सैन्य धाम का निर्माण किया जा रहा है। इस पर तेजी से कार्य किया जा रहा है। इस अवसर पर विधायक सविता कपूर, पूर्व विधायक राजेश शुक्ला एवं अन्य गणमान्य उपस्थित थे।
