मामले की विस्तृत जानकारी देते हुए सीओ वंदना वर्मा ने बताया कि पुलिस को मुखबिर से सूचना मिली कि प्रतापपुर क्षेत्र में सरकारी ठेके से अंग्रेजी शराब की पेटियां लेकर गांव में बेचने को दो व्यक्ति एक टैम्पो में अवैध शराब लेकर आ रहे हैं जो कि काशीपुर की ओर जायेंगे। सूचना पर पुलिस टीम केलामोड़ पर खड़े होकर टैम्पो का इन्तजार करने लगी। जैसे ही प्रतापपुर की तरफ से उक्त टैम्पो संख्या यूके-18 टीए-1360 आता दिखाई दिया, उसे रुकने का इशारा किया गया। इस बीच टैम्पो में सवार दो व्यक्ति उतरकर भागने की कोशिश करने लगे। पुलिसकर्मियों ने उन्हें दौड़कर पकड़ लिया। पूछताछ में दोनों ने स्वयं की पहचान करन पुत्र लाल सिंह तथा यशपाल पुत्र भारत सिंह निवासीगण धनौरी पट्टी, काशीपुर के रूप में कराई। टैम्पो की तलाशी लेने पर बीच वाली सीट के नीचे 8-पीएम की 3 पेटी कुल 36 बोतल शराब बरामद हुई। वहीं डिग्गी में 8-पीएम की 7 पेटी शराब बरामद हुई जिसमें कुल 336 पव्वे थे। पुलिस ने आबकारी अधिनियम की धारा 60/72 के तहत दोनों व्यक्तियों को गिरफ्तार कर लिया। पुलिस टीम में कोतवाली प्रभारी मनोज रतूड़ी, प्रतापपुर चौकी इंचार्ज कपिल काम्बोज, हेड कां. गणेश चन्द्र, कां. दीपक जोशी, हेम चन्द्र आदि थे।
